If you are visiting or living in New Zealand and are not eligible for publicly funded care, you can access confidential private early medical abortion care. Our pathway is NZ$500, covering assessment, the full early medical abortion care process, interpretation of hCG results and up to two weeks of clinical follow-up. We are based in Southeast Auckland and can assess non-resident clients by phone when clinically appropriate.
Phone consultations are available to clinically suitable non-resident private clients across New Zealand, including Auckland, Hamilton and Waikato, Tauranga and Bay of Plenty, Whangārei and Northland, Wellington, Christchurch and the wider North and South Islands. We have no clinics outside Howick. Clients receiving publicly funded care attend in person at our Howick clinic.
Auckland: Funded clients attend our Howick clinic in person. Non-resident private clients elsewhere in Auckland may be assessed by phone when suitable.
Waikato and Bay of Plenty: We regularly hear from Hamilton, Tauranga and surrounding communities. For suitable non-resident clients, we arrange a phone assessment and discuss locally available blood tests, ultrasound referrals if needed, and urgent care access.
Northland: People in Whangārei, Paihia and elsewhere in Northland can ask about our private phone pathway. We have no clinic in Northland.
Wellington and the South Island: Suitable non-resident clients in Wellington, Christchurch, Canterbury, Dunedin, Otago and other parts of the South Island can contact us for a phone assessment. We check whether local testing and follow-up are practical before offering this pathway.

The NZ$500 fee covers clinical assessment, the full early medical abortion care process, interpretation of pregnancy hormone (hCG) results and up to two weeks of clinical follow-up. External laboratory tests or an ultrasound, when clinically indicated, may involve a separate provider fee. We explain any expected costs before care.
Medical abortion involves two medications.
Mifepristone is taken first to block progesterone and prepare the uterus. This is followed around 36 hours later by misoprostol, which causes uterine contractions and bleeding so the pregnancy tissue can pass.
After assessment, treatment can often take place at home. You may choose an in-person consultation at our Howick clinic, or a phone consultation when clinically suitable. We provide individual instructions and 24/7 on-call clinical support.
We arrange hCG follow-up 10–14 days after treatment and review the result with you. A CheckTOP test at around 28 days may also be part of your follow-up plan. An ultrasound is arranged if clinically indicated.
Visitors, international students and people on temporary visas can contact us directly without a GP referral. Some people on temporary visas may still qualify for funded care; we check your eligibility before confirming the private fee.

Early medical abortion avoids surgery and can usually be completed at home. Cramping and bleeding are expected; nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, chills and fatigue can occur. Sometimes further treatment is required. We provide a safety plan and 24/7 on-call clinical support.
